WasteSorted Workshops 2024 - Love Your Leftovers

Our 2024 "Love Your Leftovers" workshops and the final sharing session are now all finished.  This event has been a wonderful collaboration between friends/small business owners, the City of Busselton and the Waste Authority of WA.

From the initial meeting that Jo, Jess  and I had on a rainy afternoon last year, to the final session, it's been such a wonderful experience.

A big thank you to -

Jo Kennedy from A Single Leaf South West
https://asingleleafsouthwest.com.au

for her inspiration & vision in creating these workshops and practical know how in bringing us all together to be able to offer such value packed & empowering workshops;

Jess from Jessica Green
https://jessicagreen.com.au

for inspiring us all to have less food in the first place and become more creative in our kitchens;

and Hayley Bullimore from the City of Busselton for her hard work behind the scenes ensuring that the workshops ran smoothly on each day and for completing all necessary paperwork for the grant approval process.  It's been an absolute joy to facilitate these workshops alongside these inspiring women.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the workshops.  It was a joy to meet so many new people embarking on a new eco journey or adding to their current eco practices.  It was also lovely to see some friendly, familiar faces too.

A big thank you also to the City of Busselton and the Waste Authority WA for enabling us to offer these workshops to the public for free, reaching more households in the local community.

...and a special thank you to Gaia from Gaia's Photography for taking all the professional photos at the Saturday workshop and the City of Busselton Library Staff for help promoting the workshops.

WASTE MATERIALS RE-USED

A little collection of all the 'waste' materials that were re-used in our workshops, preventing them from going to landfill or a recycling facility.   The plastic buckets were converted into in-ground worm farms using a battery powered drill, charged by the sun.

RECYCLING LEFTOVERS

All the little bits of plastic leftover from drilling the holes in the buckets were saved and will be taken to Claw Environmental Recycling in Perth.

PLASTIC BUCKETS BECOME WORM FARMS

The finished in-ground worm farms ready for workshop attendees to fill with materials, during my section of the workshop.

STARTING NEW PRACTICES

Whether you're creating a new garden, implementing a new composting system or starting a new eco practice, it's important to take it slow, one step at a time.  This helps us to make adjustments as we go, learn from any mistakes and integrate new practices.

Til next time,

Alisa 🪱
